Driving Dangers and How to Handle Them: A Guide for the Modern Driver
Inclement weather is a very common occurrence. From snow and ice to heavy rain and glaring sunlight, they can all make it difficult to see where you're going and/or control your car. If you find yourself out of control, tap the brakes and steer your car out of traffic into a safe place where you won’t be stuck. Slamming on the brakes can cause you to lose more control and crash.
If you experience brake failure, quickly put your yield lights on and pump your brakes several times to see if you can build up pressure. If they are totally gone, put your car into neutral to get rid of forward motion and use your parking brake — whether it’s electronic or hydraulic — to bring your vehicle to a stop.
If you are driving at night and suddenly have a deer jump out in front of you, make sure not to swerve. Hold both hands on the wheel and brake firmly! If you are searching for more driving training, check out our defensive driving courses in Georgia today!
Tire blowouts are dangerous and annoying. If it does happen, however, try not to panic. Take your foot off the gas and slowly bring your car to a stop by lightly pressing the brakes while you guide your car off of the road to a safe place to stop. Want to learn more?
